Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE OF PEOPLE ATTENDING?
It varies from 50 to our oldest client, who is 95, but we sometimes have clients joining us who are a little younger if they live with long-term health conditions. |
WHY SHOULD WE ATTEND A MOVE TO IMPROVE CLASS?
Moving your body will improve your balance and posture, strengthen your muscles and bones and improve your overall fitness and general well being. We need strong muscles & good balance to carry out daily activities such as walking, bending over to put shoes on, driving a car, or going shopping. |
CAN YOU JUST DROP INTO A SESSION?
Yes, classes cost £4 per session but remember, the more consistent you are with attending classes, the quicker you will see results within your body. The NHS guidelines recommend three hours of strength and balance activities each week. |
I WALK WITH A WALKING AID. CAN I STILL COME TO ONE OF THE SESSIONS?
Yes, our strength and balance classes will suit you. We must keep our bodies strong so that they can do everyday activities such as getting out of a chair, walking up and downstairs, or pushing the shopping trolley. Muscles, bones and joints start to deteriorate as we get older. Maintaining strong muscles, bones and joints in your legs will help you reduce your risk of falling and maintain your movement and flexibility. |
WHAT IF I NEED TO SIT DOWN DURING A SESSION?
We use chairs in our strength and balance classes, and all exercises can be done whilst sitting down. |
WHAT IF I NEED A DRINK?
Please bring a drink with you if you need one during your class, some venues offer water facilities, but some don’t. |
WILL THERE BE TOILET FACILITIES?
Every venue we use has toilet facilities. |
DO MEN AND WOMEN ATTEND CLASSES?
Yes, both. |
WHAT ELSE DOES MOVE TO IMPROVE OFFER?
We have day trips away during the year and Christmas parties. |
WHEN AND WHERE ARE THE CLASSES HELD?
We have sessions throughout the week, check this Timetable to see where you can join us! |
