How important is our breath?  You may be surprised to know that the way we breath can affect many systems in our body.  It can determine our stress levels, hearth rate and our energy levels!
Do you ever think about improving the way you breathe?

Did you know that your posture can have a huge impact on the way that you breathe and your overall health and well-being.

Do you struggle with good posture, scan through your body right now from head to toe just to get an idea of how your posture is right now!  Let me guess, your rounded forward while looking at your phone, iPad or laptop ! Life is always pulling us forwards (flexed position) Think about your breath in this position, can you fill your lung efficiantly?

NOW..if we think about lengthening our spine and being more mindful about our good posture, our breath is then able to flow more naturally, (try it!) so just by making this small change we can improve our overall health and energy levels throughout the day.

Try these out...
  • Throughout your day, while looking at your phone/laptop, sitting at your desk, sitting on a bus or driving your car, check in regular with your posture. Check that both feet are n the floor, have even weight on both of your sit bones, stack your pelvis, ribcage and head one onto of another, take your shoulders down away from your ears then think about a piece of string on the crown off your head lengthening you upwards then just take some lovely natural full breaths in and out.  (how good does that feel)
  • Make sure you set reminders to move and check in with our breath throughout the day. If we can we should be standing up, walk around every 30 minutes.
  • Get into a routine of practicing breathing techniques and meditation.

Simple breathing technique
  • Sit in a comfortable upright position.
  • Put one hand on your belly just below your ribs and the other hand on your chest.
  • Take a deep breath in through your nose, and let your belly push your hand out.
  • Breathe out through pursed lips as if you were whistling.
  • Do this 3 to 10 times.
