I want to talk to you about the “unseen” benefits of both Pilates and Yoga…⁣

We often talk about the physical benefits of both practices, such as increasing strength,  better muscle tone, improving flexibility and achieving better posture.

But, did you know that both these practices have so many more "unseen" benefits, the ones that help our mentaland emotional health and wellbeing
1. Both Pilates and Yoga can help release Emotional Tension
⁣Did you know that many of us store emotions in our body?
We might round our shoulders and look down at the ground if we feel self-conscious, we tense our jaws when you get angry or frustrated, our muscle tighten when we are scared or afraid.⁣

Both Pilates and Yoga helps us release tension in our muscles – including emotional tension that we might be carrying (maybe unknowingly).

This is why many people after a class, notice they experience a feeling of emotional release.

2. Both Pilates and Yoga can help provide stress relief⁣
When we experience high levels of mental stress over prolonged periods of time, our stress hormones can lead to physical symptoms such as aches and pains.
Through strengthening and stretching, both Pilates and Yoga helps us to relieve physical stress, which in turn can help with our mental stress.⁣

A quote from Joseph Pilates stated: “A body free from nervous tension and fatigue is the ideal shelter provided by nature for housing a well balanced mind…”⁣

3. Both Pilates and Yoga can provide benefits of mindfulness⁣
In our Pilates and Yoga classes we work on being present in the m moment and clearing our mind of outside distractions.

The reason for this is because when we quiet our minds and focus on the present, we can begin to focus better on that mind-body connection.

The mindfulness aspect of both Pilates and Yoga can lead to numerous benefits, including reduced stress, improved concentration and focus, better sleep quality, and more.⁣

Thanks for reading, hope to see you in a class soon
